Starry, starry night.
Images for the theme
I found it quite tricky to differentiate some elements, such as light and spectrum so some of the images may be a bit muddled.
Some of my images are from the Internet but most are my own, either from my electronic photo album which is extensive or from photos taken this week after rain or when the sun shone!

Reflections
I had so many refections. In puddles and in water - difficult to choose. A selection below.
Lots of reflections from many places
Rainbows, spectrums and galaxies (containing stars) - mostly from the Internet
I have a few more which fit several categories - light and spectrum, for instance
There were also some interesting shots which I felt I wanted to include as they had relevance.
Developing ideas
I chose five images - loosely on which to base my drawings. I couldn't find metallic coloured crayons on the web, so with metallic pens and a couple of crayons, I made the drawings and words for each
A galaxy drawn with metallic crayon and pens. I cut a stencil to make the shapes for the drawing.
The words I thought of were spiral, swirling, heavenly, ethereal, incomprehensible and fireworks
The words I thought of were spiral, swirling, heavenly, ethereal, incomprehensible and fireworks
Soap suds drawn in metallic pens. The words were, pretty, frothy, clean and bubbly
A rainbow. I didn't have all the colours in metallics so had to use the best I could and added little stars to give each band a bit of breadth. The words - Pot of gold, palette, rain and sun, Africa (rainbow nation)
Then a really poor drawing of a tree reflected in a puddle and the words were distortion and abstraction
I don't know if there are more coloured Interference mediums available, I will look, but with the pale colours that I had, I drew and painted what might represent the light from pieces of stained glass. The words were, abstract, reflective and a mirror on the world.
As I hadn't had any metallic coloured crayons and whilst I was waiting for the gold, silver and bronze that I had found online to arrive, I had a little stitch.
The starry rainbow - looks more like an entrance to an Indian wedding!
The tree in a puddle with flecked metallic thread - difficult to stitch unsupported on this fabric
Soap suds using a silver thread for an automatic pattern and surrounded with bubble shapes in a metallic variegate thread
Stained glass - soft organza appliqué with a variegated metallic thread
A galaxy with stars (not very visible) stitched with silver thread using an automatic pattern on trilobal nylon, which is an interesting fairly uncontrollable texture but I think gives that ethereal effect of a galaxy.
I was surprised at how difficult it was to choose images for this brief and how few metallic threads, mark-makers and fabrics I had before I shopped locally and on the Internet.
